50 Cent has been on an all-time run as of late, what with the ongoing expansion of his G-Unit Film & Television banner and the successful launch of his Humor & Harmony Weekend festival in Shreveport. But has he crossed over into full-fledged billionaire status? Not quite, and to hear 50 tell it, that’s just fine with him.
The Grammy winner is on the cover of the newest edition of Us Weekly, with the ensuing conversation taking on an imminent billionaire angle sprinkled with remarks from 50 about a few other unrelated-to-his-wealth topics of interest, The Accomplice film plans and a brief period of abstinence among them.
Asked point-blank whether he was now a billionaire, 50 pushed back against the very word itself, arguing that the way he chooses to "quantify the level of successes and wins" is detached from such descriptors.
"I’m not in a hurry to reach billionaire status," he pointed out, per Brian J. Roberts. "I’ve reached a point where I don’t want anything I don’t have. What’s the rush? I’ve bought every car I wanted, multiple times over."
Elaborating further, 50 reminded readers of what he says can come along with a public billionaire distinction, all of it presumably stress-inducing.
But whenever 50 does enter that realm of wealth, he’s not expecting anything to change for himself aside from going deeper on finding fresh ways to "give back" instead of just stacking up money.
As for a potential alternative to the word "billionaire," 50 explained that he would much prefer being called, simply, "very rich." The underlying intent of calling someone "very rich," he added, means a type of wealth far beyond those of the merely monetary variety.
Chief among 50’s upcoming projects is a docuseries focused on someone who has long been among the targets of his frequently headlined social media mockery, Diddy. In May, 50 told fans that Netflix had won an apparent "bidding war" for the project, which has been teased under the possible title Diddy Do It?
Meanwhile, 50's Power universe is also set to be further expanded. Back in March, Starz announced that a prequel series, titled Origins, was in development. The news arrived ahead of the 10th anniversary of the original series that kickstarted the franchise.
