Movie stars Kevin Hart,Shaquille O'Neal, Tyra Banks and More Team Up For 'Black Entrepreneurs Day' Special

 


Kevin Hart,Tyra Banks and Shaquille O’Neal are among the celebrities taking part in a live-streamed special intended to boost  Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurship.


Daymond John of TV’s “Shark Tank” will host “Black Entrepreneurs Day” from New York City’s Apollo Theater on Oct. 14 (7 p.m. EDT). It will be available through John’s Facebook page and across Facebook channels.


The goal is to “learn about how to persevere in business through insightful conversations and stories that celebrate our successes while confronting our failures,” John, founder of the apparel company FUBU, said in a statement.

Other participants include Michael Strahan, Marcus Samuelsson, Rev Run, Janice Bryant Howroyd and Khalid, who is scheduled to perform.


Black entrepreneurs and small business owners nationwide are eligible to seek a share of the more than $200,000 contributed by the event’s corporate sponsors.


The application window for about eight NAACP-administered grants is open through Sept. 28 at Black Entrepreneurship Day with recipients to be announced during the event.


Black-owned businesses saw a surge of attention and support following last year's nationwide protests against police brutality.


Yelp introduced a search attribute for shops to identify as Black-owned. And the customer review company added a list of places to choose from. A Yelp spokesperson said searches for Black-owned businesses on the platform increased 35-fold amid protests against police brutality.


UberEats also kicked off an initiative to support Black-owned businesses. The delivery company began waiving delivery fees for restaurant orders placed at Black-owned restaurants in the United States and Canada.

Flavor Flav Arrested For Domestic Violence In Nevada

  William Jonathan Dayton, an American rapper who co-founded the rap group “Public Enemy” alongside Chuck D,he is popularly known as Flavor Flav the 62 years rapper was arrested by the police and was charged for domestic violence in Nevada. The victim, whose identity has not yet been revealed, accused Flavor Flav of poking his finger on her nose, grabbing her, throwing her to the ground and snatching a phone out of her hand. Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ Returns to Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart After A Decade

  Lady Gaga ’s Born This Way album, released in 2011, returns to the top 10 of Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart (dated Sept. 18) for the first time in over a decade. The set re-enters the list at No. 10 thanks to the Sept. 3 release of the CD and cassette editions of the album’s special 10th anniversary reissue. In the week ending Sept. 9, Born This Way sold 5,000 copies in the U.S. (up 5,251%), according to MRC Data. It sold about 100 copies in the week previous. (All versions of Born This Way, including the original release and the 10th anniversary reissue, are combined for tracking and charting purposes.) Born This Way was originally released on May 23, 2011 and debuted at No. 1 on the June 18, 2011-dated chart. It was last in the top 10 on the July 23, 2011 list. The album was reissued on June 26, 2021 via digital retailers and streaming services with six additional tracks by other artists covering the album’s songs.
