Davido has come up with a new way to celebrate his birthday. The Nigerian-American artist turned 29-years old (Nov. 21) and he plans to donate 250,000,000 Nigerian Naira (over $600,000) to orphanages across Nigeria.
“If u know I’ve given you a hit song .. send me money,” Davido wrote on Twitter earlier this week.
He tweeted his bank account information and told his followers he needed 100 million naira ($243,000) to clear his Rolls-Royce from a port. Within minutes, Davido had raised over $15,000 and by the end of the day he shared an image of his account with a balance of over $230,000.
“Ain’t even showed my wallet yet! Madness,” he tweeted a day later as the amount continued to rise. On Saturday (Nov. 20), he announced in a written statement on Instagram that he received over $485,000 in donations and the money would be given to orphanages in Nigeria and the Paroche Foundation — a Nigerian organization that aims to end substance abuse.
